Definition Essay

Honest is being honorable in principles, intentions, and actions; upright and fair.
Being honest is a important valued trait that many people look for. If your honest your honorable and people will want to rely and count on you for things. You are a straightforward person. Even thought being honest sometimes you think can hurt peples feelings in the long run its better then lying to them and being corrupt. It is hard to believe that a man is telling the truth when you know that you would lie if you were in his place. ~Henry Louis Mencken A half truth is a whole lie.
If your honest then people will have faith and trust in you.

Macbeth 2

Many of us have faced issues in life were we wouldnt do something but we are pressured into doing it. Peer Prussure is the word.

Language is a big guide to influence the action. As Macbeth she was told she was a coward by lady macbeth. She didnt want to be called a coward so she proved her wrong.
I dont beleive the saying "sticks and stones can break my bones; but words can not hurt me." Words can hurt you. If someone is going to call you names because you wont do something you get upset and prove them wrong.

I don't recall a time I have experienced this but I have seen this happen. I see middle schoolers all the time say they wont smoke but then they see highschoolers smoke and they think they are cool and they look up to them. Well the highschooler askes the middle schooler if they want to smoke they say "no" so the highschooler says, " oh scared your momma's gonna get mad at you?" The highschooler can go off and call them names so the middle schooler does it because they want to be like the highschooler and they dont want to be called names. This doesnt only happen in life situations it can happen in lititure. Romeo and Juliet for example people tell Juliet she wont see romeo cause she will get in big trouble but she proves them wrong that she will because she doesnt want to be known for being a coward.

Scruples; Macbeth

1. Your car will soon need a new transmission. Do you sell it without informing the buyer?
I personally think this would be a tough situation. If you didn't have the money to fix the transmission and you were planning on selling the car before you knew this I personally would tell the buyer. I wouldn't want to buy a car and have it need a new transmission without knowing. Sometimes people would just buy it because of that, some people may not have the money to fix it like myself so they wouldn't want it.

2. You are drafted to fight in a war you consider unjust. Do you refuse and risk prison?
Well if you signed up in the first place to be called to war you should go. You never know how long it would be it may just be a few months. If you would rather risk prison it could be up to years instead of months. Yes you are risking your life in war but you signed up for it in the first place.

3. A friend wants to copy and swap some expensive computer software with you. You know it's illegal. Do you swap?
This is a yes and no answer. If you really needed the software and there was no other way to get it yes, but if if was just another software you really didn't need or there was something similar to it then defiantly not why risk and take chances if you can do it legal?

4. You dislike all the political parties. Do you vote?
If you dislike all of them and don't want either then don't vote. If you were to vote and you didn't like either of them then your just helping the person you voted for. One of them will get picked but if you don't like them then don't bother.

5. A vagrant asks you for $1.00. You suspect he/she will spend it on alcohol. Do you give it anyways?
This is another tough one. If you ask them what they want it for and they tell you then sure but if they say it doesn't matter just give it to me then no I wouldn't give it to them. You have to trust them with their answer if it's the truth or not.

6. You are shaken up on an auto accident. A lawyer could get you a large settlement if you exaggerate the extent of your injuries. Do you do so.
Absolutely not! From personally family experiences they said somewhat of the same thing to my mom and it took much longer and she ended up walking away with less then what she was going to originally get. The lawyer will then want more money so its not benefiting you because you have to pay them. If you did the other side could go to the hospital or doctors and ask them about you and it could be totally different from what you say and you may lose everything.

7. You have been attending class all year. An acquaintance, who rarely shows up, asks to photocopy your notes, do you consent?
I wouldn't. You had to go all year and do the work yourself no one gave the answers to you. I would tell them I wouldn't mind helping them but I wont give the answers. Its cheating and they are not learning anything that way so they will struggle later on.

8. Your significant other has had an affair. You have no idea how long it's been going on. Do you leave him/her?
This is another hard one. It depends how long you guys have been together and how you found out. If they hide a lot from you and someone told you then I wouldn't because they could hide it again. If they ended up telling you I would give them another chance but would want to know everything. If it has just been a few months or so I wouldn't wast my time on it its not worth it. If they were doing it so soon get out while you can!

9.You and a friend have liked the same guy/girl forever. Your friend confides you in that she/he has finally gotten up the nerve to ask this person out. Two days later that person asks you out on a date Do you say yes or mo? Do you tell your friend?
This is hard did your friend ask him what did he say? If she didn't ask him and he asked you then yes I would tell her but I would say no because I knew she got the nerves to ask him so I wouldn't do that to her.

10. It's your first chance to vote in a presidential election, and it is a very close contest. When checking that you are registered to vote, you realize that you are registered twice. Do you vote more than once?
I wouldn't take the chance. There are so many consequences if you get caught then if the person you want looses the election.

Introduction

For English 11B I expect to just learn the things I should know in the class. I don't really know what I want to learn. I just go to class and learn what I have to. Maybe if there were certain topics I really liked or enjoyed I may want to learn more about them but I really don't have any preferences.

My strengths in English is probably writing papers or short essays. When it comes to essays of any sort as long as I usually have a topic I can start writing. I usually never have a problem with writing. There are a few essays that have had lower grades, but usually they are pretty good. I love just sitting down and writing to any topic.

My weaknesses in English is spelling if that counts and reaching out for bigger words. I am horrible at spelling. If It wasn't for the dictionary or spell check my essays probably wouldn't be the best. I am also not the best and reaching out to find/use bigger words.
